Biography

I developed my love of 3d objects from a young age and went on to specialise in wood and metal design at university. I hold a  Bachelor of Design degree from Liverpool Hope University (2001) and followed this with a two-year programme at Bishopsland Educational Trust, renowned for training professional silversmiths and jewellers. The Bishopland programme was a unique opportunity to develop my expertise and approach to professional practice through exhibitions and commissions. Following this experience, I undertook a Masters in Goldsmithing, Silversmithing, Metalwork and Jewellery at the Royal College of Art.

Since graduating in 2006, alongside my practice, I have taught at Liverpool Hope University across Design, Craft and more recently the Fashion programme, specialising in metalwork, materiality, and digital practice. My work in education, within the teaching team and with the students, has become an important aspect of my creative practice.

My creative practice and work in education has also been informed by For Me & For You Designs, a creative company created in 2013 by my husband, Stewart and I. The development of the technology at the University had an impact on my new direction in design. By using the laser cutter in a creative way we have developed a commercial saleable range of beautiful woodcut and papercut pictures. We also produce a range of complimentary products including wooden brooches, cards, and tableware.
